I absolutely love to be able to express myself through my pictures, my embroidery pieces and my photographs. I am always happily surprised when my daughter points to a few quickly drawn lines on a piece of paper, smiling because she has seen a dinosaur, a princess or a little rabbit (Princesses are a winner these days I am afraid ,)
Lately, I have discovered a wonderful new medium to express my creativity in a different way : embroidery.
I love embroidery because it allows for lots of freedom and creativity. The choice of fabrics, patterns, colours and even material is amazing and the creative possibilities seem endless.
With its repetitive movement, the process of hand stitching is very relaxing and peaceful.
While I like the hand stitched artworks to be flawless, I also love the way free motion embroidery (drawing with the sewing machine freely) can give a not-so-flawless result. Just like in life, I think that in an artwork too it's sometimes the little imperfections that give it more beauty and strength.
